Gardner MacDonald

Gardner began advising companies in the renewable energy industry in 1993 and benefits from a 30 year perspective on the industry. Prior to co-founding Global Power Partners, Gardner worked with his two other co-founders at the energy focused investment bank Ewing Bemiss & Co. From 1993 to 1998, Gardner worked at McManus & Miles, a boutique investment bank specializing in the renewable energy, independent power and electric utility industries. Gardner began his investment banking career in the mergers and acquisitions group at Morgan Stanley & Co. and has advised on over $30 billion of merger and acquisition and financing transactions. Gardner graduated with a degree in economics from Vassar College and received an MBA from The Darden School at the University of Virginia, where he was a Darden Scholar.

Jay Moorhead

Jay has spent the past 10 years working globally with developers, IPP’s, energy and power companies worldwide, providing strategic financial advisory and investment banking services, especially in the fast growing renewable energy space. Prior to co-founding Global Power Partners, Jay worked with his two other co-founders at the energy focused investment bank Ewing Bemiss & Co. (2009-2015), and for 6 years before that with Rick Petree at Millrock Partners and Westwood Capital. Jay’s earlier investment banking career was spent at EF Hutton and Lehman Brothers. After graduation from the University of Vermont, Jay worked for the Republican National Committee, George H.W. Bush, the Reagan White House and the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee.

Rick Petree

Since 2005, Rick and his co-founders have advised renewable energy project developers, independent power producers, large international utilities, solar equipment manufacturers and specialist renewable energy fund managers on renewable energy and clean technology  financings and transactions in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Spain, Hungary, Bulgaria, Turkey, Egypt, India, Japan, Thailand and Chile. For six years before forming Global Power Partners, Rick and his co-founders comprised the senior New York team of the Richmond, Virginia-based investment bank, Ewing Bemiss & Co. Rick’s earlier investment banking career was with S.G. Warburg & Co., in both London and New York. A graduate of Oxford University and Harvard Law School, Rick also practiced law at Hale & Dorr (Boston) and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett (New York). He is a member of the Council On Foreign Relations.

Nick Nanez

Nick Nanez has dedicated the last two years to international energy trading, investment, and development. Prior to joining Global Power Partners, he worked as an analyst on the Glencore LTD Fuel Oil desk, where he facilitated the physical and financial execution of trades across Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Argentina, and the Caribbean basin. Prior to Glencore, he interned at Traxys North America where he valued uranium development projects in Russia, Alaska, and Canada. He is an internationally-oriented individual, fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Nick graduated from Pomona College in 2014 with a BA in International Political Economics.
